Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist, and I’m here to talk about counseling and help you understand if we are the right therapists for you. First of all, what I want to say is that everyone has issues in their life, and at some point in time, they don’t have the answers for them. We all get stuck, we all run into challenges, and sometimes we need help.I really want to encourage anybody who feels stuck to reach out and get the help that they need. Sometimes it could make the difference in really changing our lives in a really unique way, and also, it can mean that you can move forward in your life with these new skills, and make really good decisions, and find ways to feel happier and more free in your life.

Finding a really good therapist can be a scary thing. You’re going to be very close and intimate, telling this person intimate details about your life, and we really want to engender the kind of trust that you deserve. First of all, we are licensed therapists. We are very professional. We’ve been helping individuals through a myriad of challenges in their life that they’re facing and have helped people find really good solutions and really good skills to help themselves.

Now, when you reach out to us on the phone, it’s a great way to get to know who we are. You can talk to your therapist on the phone and get to know them a little bit, tell them a little bit about why you’re coming in. Also, of course, seeing the person is a great way to get to know that person and seeing if they’re the right fit for you, personality-wise.

But as far as how we move forward, I’d say that we always want to help our clients based on what it is you want in your life. We’re going to help you examine the challenges that you’re facing and help you understand what it is, what’s underneath it, and: why does it matter to you? With a depth of understanding, it really can help people be more compassionate towards themselves and find the right answers to really help you.

We’re also solution-focused therapists, which means that a lot of our skillsets is in helping you find the right solutions to help you move through this and out of it on the other side. We’re going to help you find the right skills that are going to work for you, and we’re going to coach, mentor, and guide you along the way as you’re examining these skills and solutions in your life, and finding the ones that are really going to work for you.

Also, you might want to check out some of the videos and articles that we have on our Minneapolis psychotherapy website. It’s a great way to get to know who we are as therapists, and the kinds of therapists we are, and the kinds of advice that we might give.

If you’re interested in knowing how you pay for therapy, we are out-of-pocket, but many people have what’s called out-of-network insurance coverage. You might be able to get some reimbursement by checking with your insurance company first, and we can give you an invoice that might help you on the backend.

I really encourage you to reach out if you want to make a change in your life, and at least investigate whether individual counseling is the right thing for you. Hopefully, reach out to one of our therapists and see if there’s a really good connection with a therapist that has a lot of skill and a lot of experience in helping you move forward in your life. We specialize in a solution-focused approach to individual counseling, couples therapy, couples counseling and marriage counseling. Thank you so much.

Hello, welcome to Relationship Counseling Center in Minnesota. My name is Sevin Philips and I’m the founder. Here at Relationship Counseling Center, we specialize in relationships. No matter where you are, whether you’re dating or new in a relationship or you’re in a current relationship that’s having some struggles, we’re here to help you. We have a lot of experience in these areas.

Relationships are one of the most profound things that will ever happen to us in our lifetime. I know that. That’s why I wanted a counseling center that specializes in relationships, because a lot of people didn’t get the strategies and tools from their parents and a lot of us have to learn along the way of our adult life.In here you can really learn the tools and skills in much like a coaching fashion and get the results that you need and change your life.
With couples, you can come on in and we can create an environment that’s non-judgmental and non-blaming, where you could hopefully have a better understanding of what’s going on between you two. With that understanding, you can make different decisions. You can treat each other differently. That’s a really great thing.
One of the things that’s important to know is we have licensed therapists and trained therapists, but we really have a lot of therapists that also have enough life experience to back it up. When I hire somebody, I’m really looking for somebody who knows a lot about life and relationships and can, with that wisdom, help you in a good way.

We’re very interactive. I find that really great. A lot of clients find it very refreshing. You don’t come in here and just tell us your story and we listen. We’re actively participating in your recovery and helping you with your relationship. We give direct feedback. We have a lot of communication skills and tools to give to you so you can not only work on them in session, but you can work on them in home.

We have a goal-directed approach where, with the help of your therapist, you can figure out what your relationships goals are. What are we working on in therapy? That really keeps us on track so you know how you’re doing and you also know when it’s time to end therapy, which is very important.

The first step is to give me a call if you’re interested. I can answer questions and talk about location, the therapist, and answer some basic questions to give you enough information to know if you want to talk to one of our therapists. I will have the therapist call you within 24 hours. During that conversation, you can begin to get to know the person you’ll be working with, which is a great first step. In addition, you might tell them a little bit about what’s going on in your relationship, and of course you’re going to want to know when they’re available – day or evening and which day of the week.

Some basic information about therapy:
People usually come in on a weekly basis for one therapy hour per week. I’d say on average people come in maybe six to eight times to really work on a relationship issue. You may need less. You may need more. It’s really up to you.

We are licensed therapists, so if you have any sort of out-of-network coverage, find out because we can give you an invoice and you may be able to get reimbursed. You may have flex spending or some sort of Health Savings Account through work. That can be very helpful.

In addition, I have a lot of articles and videos on our website that you can look at right now. You might even find a relationship issue that’s spoken about, get the help you need and get some suggestions. It’s a great way to really get to know us, too, and that kinds of suggestions that we give clients.

Of course, if you want some independent third-party help, give me a call and I will help you get an appointment with one of our counselors soon. Thank you.

Jazz it Up in Minneapolis

Have you ever seen Forest Gump? Yes? Well, Minnesota is really like a box of chocolates. Not only is it like a box of chocolates – they are heart-shaped. I bet you have never thought of your hometown in this way, but it really is a City of Love. Hmm…How? Well, as you know coldness promotes cuddling and human closeness. When you are cold, you tend to seek body heat as a way to warm up. And, as you also know Minneapolis is known for its cold weather – and Prince – and Lake Minnetonka, but I digress. There is something awesome for everyone – to experience – to participate in – to do, simply put, which is especially true if you are trying to reconnect with someone you love. So, open your mind and heart, and try something new – different – exciting.

Listed below are activities that you and your sweetheart can do to reconnect with one another:

Milwaukee Road Depot
Have you ever been to the Milwaukee Road Depot? No? Maybe? Well, if you haven’t or you haven’t been in a really long time, maybe it is time that you and your partner take a trip there. Why? Well, because this downtown sweet spot is perfect for rekindling the fire in your relationship. If you and your honey are true “thrill-seekers,” strip down into your bathing suits and swim trunks and spend some time at the Depot’s 15,000sq ft. indoor waterpark, but if you and your “boo” prefer a more mellow vibe, try enjoying the downtown skyline as you skate hand-in-hand around the Depot’s indoor skating rink. And if you get too cold from ice skating, warm up by sipping on a couple of cocktails and grubbing on unforgettable dishes and mouthwatering desserts at Charley’s Grill at the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel. If you get a chance try the delicious Guinness Braised Beef Short Ribs, Filet Mignon, or Walleye Tacos. Yum!

Sabai Body Temple
Why is the Sabai Body Temple, also known as the “Perfect Piece of Paradise,” such a great place for a couple that is struggling with relationship issues? Well, because it specializes in tranquility, harmony, and healing. In addition, it helps you reunite with your partner – body, mind, and soul. In other words, it helps you and your significant other reconnect on various levels. It also helps you share an experience with one another. And, lastly, it helps you relax your mind and body, so that you can think more clearly and make more rational decisions. So, if you are looking for a unique way to rekindle your love, going for a couple’s massage at this mecca of peace may be just what you need to re-spark the flames of love. When you and your partner go to your massage appointment expect an out-of-this-world experience, complete with an expert massage specialist, who combines alternative medicine with Eastern-focused massage techniques. And, for a supreme experience, book the Asian Fusion for Two Massage, which is combo of Western relaxation/stress-management methods and Eastern deep tissue techniques. This calming massage is performed in a soothing, candle-lit, aromatic room set just for you and your sweetheart.

Riverview Wine Bar
Have you been experiencing relationship issues and/or do you need to unwind from all of the stress in your relationship? If so, the Riverview Wine Bar is calling your name – and your sweetheart’s too! What is so great about this bar? Well, it is a little urban gem located in Minneapolis’s river community, and it is the perfect place to relax and de-stress with a cup of coffee or hot tea or a glass of wine during the evening. Basically, it offers everything you need! Aren’t you lucky? And, do you want to know what else is awesome about this trendy bar? I thought so! Well, it also comes with live music from Riverview’s Mocha and Music group – every week!

So, as you can probably guess – the place is hopping all of the time! Warning – this is probably not the best place to go, if you and your partner want to talk or spend a quiet evening together, because the place is normally busy and the music is normally loud. But, if you want to have some fun and not think about all of the things wrong in your life, while spending quality time with your significant other – this is the right place for you! And, guess what? Well, when the weather is nice, you can dine outside in the patio area. Oh, and let me tell you – this bar has some of the most delicious homemade food! So pair one of the meals with a glass of cabernet and you and your sweetheart will be in heaven. Hint – Try the to-die-for flatbread/thin crust Figaro pizza, the Pappardelle, and/or the Artichoke Spread Small Plate.

Fired Up Studios
Channel your inner Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze (from the movie “Ghost”) and be prepared to get your hands dirty – with clay. In other words, reconnect with your partner by creating a one-of-a-kind piece of pottery that you made together, of course. The key word? Together! In fact, the studio’s “Clay Dates” are made just for couples like you. You know – couples looking to “jazz” up their relationships. You and your honey will have an excellent time at Fired Up Studios, while learning how to “throw a pot,” spin the potter’s wheel, and create a piece of pottery made from love. All you need to do is show up! The studio does all the rest from providing the supplies to showing you how to make the pottery. So, throw on some old clothes (clothes that you can get dirty without falling apart) and create a memory that will last forever. P.S. Don’t forget to wear shoes that you don’t mind getting clay on because pieces can fall to the ground and on your shoes.

The Hitching Company
Have you and your significant other lost some of the spark you used to have for one another? If so, I have a possible solution for you… Really? Yes! It is called The Hitching Company. So, let the clip clop of a horse drawn carriage ride reintroduce romance into your relationship. And, you are in luck my friend because this company offers a variety of fun and romantic carriage rides throughout Minneapolis. Yay! For instance, the Downtown Grand City Tour combines the energy of Nicollet Mall’s outside cafes and the city’s magnificent skyscrapers with the twinkling marquees of the theaters on show nights. It is truly beautiful! While on one of carriage ride tours you will witness many types of architecture, ranging from classical to ultra-modern in style. You will also see a slew of historical churches. And, if you decide to tour downtown, you will experience a combo of wildlife, countryside, and architecture as it co-exists with a more contemporary urban environment. Sound enchanting? Well, it is. So, sit back, unwind, and relish this one-of-a-kind experience! It will give you and your sweetheart something to do that does not highlight your problems.
