Dave is a licensed psychologist with more than 20 years experience in the mental
health field. Dave is located in Winston-Salem, NC and has appointment availability
during evenings and on Saturdays. Like most therapists, Dave is able to help with general
problems in mood, such as anxiety and depression. While he is able to help with a variety
of mental health concerns, he specializes in several areas.
A focus of Dave’s work is helping individuals, couples, and families with
relationship concerns. He finds it extremely fulfilling when he is able to help people
repair damaged relationships and experience the relationships they desire.
Dave also specializes in helping families and individuals cope with challenges
associated with aging and chronic illness. Life changes due to illnesses such as diabetes,
arthritis, or dementia can be extremely difficult. Support from a psychologist who is
skilled in helping people cope with such challenges can greatly increase quality of life
and can in many cases improve health.
Finally, Dave has advanced training and experience with integrating spirituality into
psychotherapy. Research has consistently demonstrated the positive role spirituality plays
in overall health. Dave’s faith background is Christian, but he is pleased to serve people
regardless of their spiritual perspectives (or lack of faith commitment).
Dave has been married since 1996 and has two daughters. He enjoys technology,
marksmanship, and the outdoors.[/toggle][toggle title=”Fees – Insurance – Office Photos” open=”no”]Individual Therapy – $125 per session
Couples Counseling – $145 per session
First of all, Relationship Counseling Center specializes in relationship issues—all therapists can specialize in different things—this is what we do best. We work with individuals and couples. When couples come in, we’re going to create a space without judgment or blame and we’re going to help you get to the heart of the matter. I often find that when clients are really clear about what’s going on between them and they have a deeper understanding of one another, they can begin to treat each other more respectfully.
We’re known for teaching the right communication skills and tools that are necessary for you to have a healthy relationship. I believe as a therapist that is very vital. We’re not just listening to you each and every session; we’re active participants giving you the tools that you need, helping you with those during session and really promoting you taking them home.
Everybody that works at my center is not only licensed, but everyone has enough life experience to back up their skillset. We’re direct, we’re interactive, we’re solution-focused. With our help, you’re going to create some relationship goals for yourself. It’s very important to have those when you go to counseling. First of all, it’s going to let you know how you’re doing and if you’re getting your money’s worth out of counseling. We can make adjustments if we need to along the way. And it’s also going to inform all of us when it’s time to end therapy because you’ve achieved your goal, and that is the ultimate goal of going to counseling; we want that too.
A first step could be just to give me a call. I could answer any additional questions that you might have. And if everything feels good, I’m going to have the Winston-Salem, NC therapist give you a call. They’re going to call you as soon as possible and you can talk to them on the phone, get to know them. It’s a great first step in easing into that first session. They’re probably going to ask you a little bit about why you’re coming in, and they’re going to tell you all the times that you can see them in the evening and the daytime throughout the week so that you can come in. We also see people usually within 24 to 48 hours.
We specialize in marriage counseling and couples therapy, we work with people who are married and unmarried, but we also work with individuals who are in committed relationships. I’m pleasantly surprised at how much can happen for an individual when they work on themselves and then bring that skillset back into their relationship or perhaps learn how to take care of themselves better. We work with people who are dating who really want to get married and find that right life partner, and want to make really good, healthy decisions when they’re dating.
We do premarital counseling. We’re going to help you, with your communication styles, find a really good strategy for you to move forward and hopefully miss some of the road bumps that a lot of other folks might have.
We also are licensed therapists and even though you pay out-of-pocket, you might have something called out-of-network coverage. You can call your insurance company and find out. And if you do, your therapist can give you an invoice and you might be able to get some money back. And sometimes people even pay for therapy using something like flex spending or health savings accounts. So if you have something like that, you might want to look into it.
Now, if you haven’t noticed, we have a lot of articles and videos on this website. You probably could search through our videos and find a relationship issue that you’re currently going through, and maybe even some advice that might help you today. Those videos are free and they’re meant for you. It’s also a great way to get to know who we are and the kinds of advice that we give. It’ll help you make a decision if we are the right therapists for you.
I hope this helps. And if there’s anything else you need, let us know. Thank you.[/toggle][toggle title=”” open=”yes”][/toggle][/accordian][/one_half][/fullwidth][fullwidth backgroundcolor=”no” backgroundimage=”” backgroundrepeat=”no-repeat” backgroundposition=”left top” backgroundattachment=”scroll” bordersize=”0px” bordercolor=”” borderstyle=”solid” paddingtop=”45px” paddingbottom=”45px” paddingleft=”0px” paddingright=”0px” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][one_half last=”no” class=”” id=””][title size=”2″ content_align=”left” style_type=”double” sep_color=”” class=”” id=””]Counseling Specialties[/title][checklist icon=”fa-check” iconcolor=”” circle=”” circlecolor=”” size=”small” class=”Speciallist” id=””][li_item icon=””]Interpersonal Issues[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Marriage Counseling & Couples Therapy[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Relationship and Intimacy Issues[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Premarital Counseling[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Sexual and Emotional Disconnect[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Infidelity[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Parenting[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Fighting and Defensiveness[/li_item][li_item icon=””]LGBTQ Adults[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Life & Career Transition[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Life & Career Transition[/li_item][/checklist][/one_half][one_half last=”yes” class=”” id=””][title size=”2″ content_align=”left” style_type=”double” sep_color=”” class=”” id=””]Winston-Salem Therapist Locations[/title][map address=”8025 North Point Blvd #280, Winston-Salem, NC 27106″ type=”roadmap” map_style=”default” overlay_color=”” infobox=”default” infobox_background_color=”” infobox_text_color=”” infobox_content=”” icon=”” width=”100%” height=”300px” zoom=”10″ scrollwheel=”yes” scale=”yes” zoom_pancontrol=”yes” popup=”yes” class=”” id=””][/map]
