Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m a Licensed Therapist, and I’m the Founder of the Relationship Counseling Center in Vancouver, WA. This video is going to help you understand if we are the right therapists for you, and if we’re not, it’s really good information that I think everyone should know about therapy, and also some practical things like how to pay for it.
So first of all, we specialize in relationship issues. We work with couples and individuals. When couples come in, we’re going to help you create a safe environment that will allow you guys to have a deeper, more meaningful conversation, and with our help, get to the bottom of what’s really going on between you two. Sometimes having that independent third party could be a really great thing for a couple who’s struggling. We’re also really good at teaching the right communication skills and tools that are necessary for you guys to begin to create a healthier relationship. We’re not only going to help you with those in session, but we’re really going to promote and provide you the structure to take it at home and start practicing those things at home. It’s very important because ultimately, you don’t want to be in therapy; you want to start treating each other better.Also, everyone I hire is old enough and has enough life experience to back up their skillset. We’re down-to-earth, we’re interactive, we give a lot of feedback. Much like a relationship coach, we’re active participants; not just listening to you each and every session, but actively helping you create a better life.
With our help and your input, we’ll create relationship goals. It’s really important for you to have relationship goals in therapy. It’s going to help you understand if you’re getting your money’s worth. Are we going in the right direction? Making adjustments can be important. And it’s also going to inform all of us that it’s time to end therapy because you’ve achieved your goal, that’s what we want as well.The first step could be just to give me a call. I could try to answer any question that you might have, and if everything feels good, I’ll have our Vancouver, WA therapist give you a call immediately. You could talk to them on the phone which is a great way to get to know the person that you’re going to be seeing. They’re probably going to ask you a little bit about why you’re coming in. And they can tell you all the times that they can see you, both day and night so that you can come in. We usually can see you within 24 to 48 hours.
We specialize in marriage counseling, couples therapy, but also we help individuals. Sometimes people want to come in who are in a committed relationship and they want to get really clear about what is happening for them. Maybe develop some healthy strategies for them to take care of themselves or create the life that they want. Sometimes people who are dating come in because they want to find the right life partner, they want to make really good and healthy decisions in choosing the people that they’re dating. We also do premarital counseling, so people who are setting themselves up for success, want to have a great marriage, and want to talk to marriage and relationship professionals – you can come in and we can really take a lot of the tips and experiences that we have, and match them to your communication style and give you some good information.
Some people have what’s called out-of-network coverage. You might have something like that. You can call your insurance company and verify that. If so, we can give you an invoice and you might be able to get some money back from your insurance company. Some people have what’s called flex spending or health savings accounts, and sometimes people use those monies to help pay for therapy.
