I’m doing this video to help you understand if we are the right therapist for you, and I also want to give you some basic information that I think everyone should know before making an important decision like this.

First off, we specialize in relationship issues. We work with couples and individuals. When couples come in, we help create a safe environment so that you can get to the bottom of what’s really going on between you two, without judgment and without blame. It can be very helpful having that independent third party professional helping you in your relationship. Sometimes we have insight and information that can be really illuminating. We also are very good at teaching the skills and the tools that are going to be the most helpful for you in your relationship. Not all of us got the handbook when we were growing up, and sometimes learning those skills in session with us and then we also promote you to take those home where it matters most – you really can have a lot of relief because ultimately, you want to learn how to get the impasses at home so that you don’t need to be in couples counseling. Also, everyone who works at my center is also old enough, that has enough life experience to back up their skillset. We’re down-to-earth, we’re interactive, we’re solution-focused. Much like a relationship coach, we’re active participants helping you in your relationship.

And with our help and your input, we’re going to create relationship goals. What’s really important about that: it’s going to guide your therapy. You’re going to know: are you getting your money’s worth? Are we going in the right direction? We can make adjustments. Also, we’re all going to know when it’s time to end therapy because you’ve achieved your goal, and that’s what we want as well.

Now, we work with marriage counseling, couples therapy, of course – that’s our specialty, but sometimes people come in by themselves who are in a committed relationship. They perhaps want to get clear about something, they want to get some strategies for themselves about how to move forward in a really good way. Sometimes we help individuals who are dating wanting to make really good decisions about finding that right life partner. Sometimes we do premarital counseling for people that want to really set themselves up for success, and learn some great tips and tools about how to have a happy marriage.

Now, a first step could be just to give me a call. I could answer any question that you might have. And if everything feels really good, I’ll have the Tucson, AZ therapist give you a call as soon as possible. It’s a great way to get to know the person you’re going to be seeing. They’re probably going to ask you a little bit about why you’re coming in, and they’re going to tell you all the times that you can see them, both day and night so that you can come in as soon as possible. We usually can see you within 24 to 48 hours.

On the practical stuff, we are licensed therapists so if you have any out-of-network counseling insurance coverage, you can check with your insurance company and we can give you an invoice that might get you some reimbursement. Also, if you have any flex spending or health savings accounts through work, sometimes people use those monies to pay for their therapy.

Now, if you haven’t noticed, we have a lot of articles and videos on this website. You’ll probably, if you look through it, are going to find a relationship issue that you can identify with. You might even get some solutions that can be very helpful for you. Those videos are free, please take advantage of it. Also, it’s a great way to know who we are, the kinds of therapists we are, the kinds of advice that we give. And, of course, if I can help you, please reach out. Thank you.

I’m here to talk about our therapy services, and I want to give you some information on the kinds of therapists that we have, also help you understand how therapy works, especially if this is your first time.I know it can be a little scary experience to reach out to somebody you don’t know and ask for help. So hopefully I’ll be able to answer some questions that will alleviate some of that anxiety.

Now, many people in the world, I would say everyone, needs help from time to time. It’s completely normal and natural. And when you reach out to a licensed therapist, it could be a very good choice because we work with a lot of people and we have a lot of experience with all kinds of relationship or life issues. And what makes this a really unique relationship is unlike family or friends, which you might have access to and reach out to, this is one place in the world where it gets to be just about you. We really focus on your life and how to move forward in a really healthy way.

Now, you might find when you come into your first session that we’re going to ask you about your life, your thoughts, your feelings, and your opinions about your life issue. And you’ll notice that we ask a lot of questions. And I think it’s a very good thing because it’s very interactive and I think that makes people feel very relaxed because it’s a very natural process. We’re getting to know you, which is very helpful because when we get to know you more we’ll be able to help you better. In addition, a lot of clients find that being asked questions helps them understand what’s going on in their lives. A lot of times clients say they’ve had epiphanies or deeper level of compassion or understanding about their experience, which can be very helpful.

Our Tucson therapists are solution-focused therapists, and so once we start talking to you in session, getting to know you, eventually we’re going to help you develop a roadmap based on your issues that you have, and give you the right kinds of skills and tools that are necessary to help yourself. We’re probably going to practice some of those during session and talk about them, and eventually in your own timeframe, we’re going to invite you to take that out to the world and we’ll help you make adjustments along the way. We’re much like a life coach where we’re active participants and we really are focused on the solutions that are going to help you.

I might recommend to check out the videos and the articles that we have on our website. I think you’ll find a lot of them very helpful, maybe some issues you can relate to. It’s a great way to get to know the kinds of therapist that we are. Also, you can give us a call right now. We have friendly receptionists that can handle some basic questions that you might have. And also, if you want to talk to the therapist that you would be seeing, you can talk to them, get to know them on the phone, get to know their personality, see if you feel comfortable with that person. They’re probably going to ask you a little bit about what’s going on, and that could be a great first step.

Now, sometimes people get help paying for therapy and one way they do that is if they have something called out-of-network therapy coverage. You can call your insurance company and find out. We are out-of-pocket therapists, but many people help with the costs by using out-of-network coverage. You also might have employee benefits, like flex spending, things like that. Sometimes people use those monies to help pay for therapy. Our Tucson therapist specialize in marriage counseling, couples counseling, couples therapy and individual therapy.

I hope this was helpful, and if you’d like to take the next step, I encourage you to reach out and give us a call today. Thank you.

Marvel at the Sunset in Tucson

With Tucson’s beautiful desert backdrop and relaxed charm, love is inevitable and romance is only natural. So, if you are struggling with something in your relationship, take some time out to rediscover this rustic city. There are many things to do that can reignite the sparks you and your partner once felt for each other. All is not lost. You can turn things around by finding things you can do together – things that you both enjoy – things that make you laugh and warm your heart – fun things. So, regardless of whether you and your sweetheart are looking for something exciting, or something more low-key, you can find it in Tucson. Are you ready to have some fun, and reconnect with your loved one? Yes? Great, let’s get started.

Listed below are activities that can help you find common ground in your relationship (while have a lot of fun):

Sentinel Peak “A” Mountain
If you are looking for a way to reconnect with your significant other, you should try Sentinel Peak “A” Mountain. Why? Well, because this mountain, located west of downtown Tucson, is busting at the seams with history. Did you know that it was once used as a lookout point for the Spanish? Or, that it originated when some rowdy, but highly creative University of Arizona fans whitewashed a gigantic “A” into the mountain as a way to pay tribute to the winning team. Cool huh? Well, it is all true. Now the famous “A” is red, white, and blue – just like our American flag. And, although the Pima village and plowed fields at the top of the mountain no longer exist, the 19th century home of John Warner (renowned publisher and teacher) still stands tall at the base of the peak.

How can this place be beneficial for your relationship? Well, this is a great way for you and your partner to learn something new – together. Explore the mountain and its extensive history. The peak is a wonderful place to witness a breathtaking view of Tucson’s spectacular landscape. And, if you want to see something truly dazzling, climb to the mountain’s peak at night and look down. Why? Well, because the shimmering city’s lights create an illusion of a sparkling diamond. This activity not only encourages bravery and taking risks, it also allows you and your partner to learn more about this great city – and each other.

Tumamoc Hill
Another way you and your honey can reconnect and learn about each other is by going to Tumamoc Hill. Why? Well, because it is an abandoned settlement, perched on a mesa top. It is approximately 2300 years old and filled to the brim with historical context (how humans lived centuries ago). It is interesting and “different,” and in this case “different” is a good thing. Why? Because it is easy for long-term couples to get “stuck in a rut” when it comes to their relationships. Following the same routine can cause you and your partner to “lose each other,” which is never a good thing. So, think-outside-of-the-box and discover things together by taking a sunset or sunrise hike up Tumamoc Hill. You and your sweetheart will not be disappointed, and it might just rekindle the fire in your relationship.

2nd Saturdays Downtown
If you want to add a little variety to your relationship, while having a lot of fun, you may want to consider checking out 2nd Saturdays Downtown. Why? Well, because it offers a variety of things to do as a couple, such as shopping, listening to awesome musicians and bands, grubbing at all of the cool places to eat, and/or going to private parties and events. And, each Saturday, there is a new artist and event, so live a little and get out and mingle. Sometimes being around others (as a couple) and doing something fun is enough to break the ice and call a truce, even for just that night. Regardless, just try to enjoy the evening and the activity, leave all that “heavy” stuff for your counseling sessions. Now is the time to let loose, if you know what I mean.

Sun Link Streetcar
If you want to create memories and have a good time at the same time, purchase tickets and jump on the Sun Link Streetcar. How fun is that? And, how random is that? Well, sometimes “random” is just what is needed to jumpstart your dying relationship. Be a “teenager.” Yeah, I said it – BE A TEENAGER. Quit being an “adult” for at least one night and just have fun. Don’t think about everything that is wrong in your life and relationship, and think about what is right in those areas of your life. So, think back to when you and your partner first met, and channel your inner teenager. Ride the streetcar all over downtown Tucson at night and watch the lights glim and listen to the pulsating music as you and your partner hold hands and marvel at the sights.

Tucson Ghost Town Tours
If you want to add a little “thrill” to your relationship, you probably want to go on Tucson Ghost Town Tours. So, purchase tickets to this creepy walking tour (FYI – you and your partner will visit at least 12 scary locations so be prepared) and explore downtown Tucson at night. What is so great about this activity? Well, it will give you and your significant other a chance to get closer. After a few blocks on this tour, listening to terrifying ghost stores and roaming through haunted abandoned buildings, you will be clinging to one another for dear life. And, at the end of the night you will be so glad you have one another. Plus! Plus!

So, I’ve had what I’ll call “classic” issues with therapy. Until about 18 months ago, I thought that I could just deal with whatever I needed to, without help. Yeah. Then, I had a couple of unsuccessful starts with a couple of other therapists; One who really sucked, and one whose style was more along
