Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m a licensed therapist. I’ve created this message to help you understand if we are the right therapist for you. I want to give you some information about what to expect coming into therapy. It could be really helpful, especially if this is your first time. I also want to give you some information about how to help pay for therapy.

Every human being runs into issues and challenges. We hit roadblocks, we don’t know what to do, we feel stuck. It’s normal and natural to be in that place. What we do oftentimes in our culture is that we don’t think we can ask for help. There’s something wrong if we do, we admit there’s something weak about us, and that’s completely untrue. The strongest and most courageous people that I know are the ones that when they’re in a place that they need help can ask for help. And I really encourage you to do so.

Reaching out to a licensed professional can be one of the smartest decisions that you’ve made. We help people for a living. We have a lot of tools and skills that we apply to help our clients move forward in their lives. Maybe just the old strategies you have in your life are not working anymore and you need some new ones. We’re solution-focused therapists. Our job is to help you create a roadmap to move forward.

When you come in for your first session we’re probably going to ask you your thoughts, your feelings, your opinion about your life issue and we’re going to get to know you. We’re going to have a conversation, it’s going to be very interactive. And I think clients find that very comfortable, much like sitting with a friend, we’re going to be talking to you and it’s very… The dialogue flows very nicely. And what happens is we get to know you and we are able to better help you. We also are developing trust, which is a really good thing about therapy.

This is one of the safest places that people find they can work on their life. Unlike family or friends, this is the one place where it gets to be just about you. And as you move forward, you’ll probably find a deeper level understanding about what’s going on in your life, which can feel really good. But ultimately, we want to help you move forward with the tools and skills, helping you develop those in our session and then learning how to take those out into your life in your own pace, in your own time.

Going on our website and watching some of the videos is a great way to get to know who we are. You’re going to probably find some life issues on there you can relate to, maybe even some solutions that will help you today. And you’re also going to get to know the kinds of opinions and the kinds of advice we give to our clients.

The best thing you can do, though, is to reach out and pick up the phone. We have a friendly receptionist staff that could answer basic questions, and they can direct you to the therapist so you can talk to them on the phone. Get to know the therapist you’re going to be seeing, tell them a little bit about what’s going on in your life, see if there’s a connection, see if you feel comfortable. And if you do, and only if you do, make an appointment.
Help paying for therapy, sometimes people call their insurance company and ask if they have out-of-network coverage. We are out-of-network providers, so if you do, we can provide an invoice that may get you some money back. If you have something like an employee benefit, like flex spending, sometimes people can use those funds to pay for therapy. We specialize in a solution-focused approach to individual counseling, couples therapy, couples counseling and marriage counseling.

I hope this was helpful. And ultimately, I really urge you to take the next step in your life, pick up the phone and let us know what we can do to help. Thank you.

Contrary to popular belief, my hubby and I don’t have a perfect marriage, but who does, right? There were/are several issues we needed/need assistance with; one of which was/is a nagging problem for quite some time. We’ve had several sessions with him and every time our sessions ended I felt some breakthrough had occurred, no

So, I’ve had what I’ll call “classic” issues with therapy. Until about 18 months ago, I thought that I could just deal with whatever I needed to, without help. Yeah. Then, I had a couple of unsuccessful starts with a couple of other therapists; One who really sucked, and one whose style was more along
