Our Reno therapists are solution-focused, offering individual therapy , couple therapy & marriage counseling.

At our Reno therapy office, licensed therapists help people find healthy ways to target and resolve life issues. Whether through individual counseling, marriage counseling or couples therapy, our Reno therapists can help you figure out how to move forward and make better choices in your life.

Many individuals struggle with depression, anxiety, painful relationships or just find themselves in uncomfortable situations that keep happening over and over. We help individuals understand their choices and uncover strategies that will effectively change their life for the better. Individual therapy can often be someone’s first experience feeling safe enough to really uncover the root issues and develop the skills to make healthy changes.

Couples often find couples counseling to be the last house on the block. After failed attempts to get your needs met in a relationship, going to therapy can be an effective way to find connection and happiness in your relationship. An experienced therapist can help couples develop a better understanding for each other. When clients finally understand each other they will often begin to treat each other respectfully and more lovingly. We offer the communication tools and skills that help couples create relationship strategies that work.

We offer a solution focused approach, and all of our therapists are committed to furthering their expertise through ongoing education.

Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m a Licensed Therapist and I’m the Founder of the Relationship Counseling Center in Reno, NV. I’m doing this video because I want to help you try to find out whether we are the right therapists for you, and even if we’re not, this is information that I think everyone should know about choosing a therapist, and also some practical stuff like paying for it.

So, first of all, Relationship Counseling Center specializes in relationship issues, that’s what we do best. We work with couples and individuals. When couples come in, we help create a good environment without judgment and without blame, and help you get to the bottom of what is really going on between you two. With that kind of clarity and understanding, I often find that clients have an easier time moving forward, treating each other better.
In addition to that though, we’re really good at teaching the right communication skills and tools that are necessary to treat each other better. We not only help you with those during session, but we really want you to take those home and start working at it at home so that you can improve your relationship because, ultimately, you want your life to change and you don’t want to have to come back to therapy; you want to make it really work well for you.
So everyone that works for me also is old enough and has enough life experience to back up their skillset. We’re known for being down-to-earth, interactive, authentic. Many people find we have a solution-focused style to therapy. We’re active participants helping you in your relationship, much like a relationship coach. With your help, we’ll create relationship goals. And with those goals, it’s a really good thing because you can know how you’re doing while you’re doing your therapy. Are you on track? Are you getting what you want out of it? In addition, we’re all going to know when it’s time to end therapy because you’ve achieved your goal, and that’s what we want.

A first step could be just to give me a call. I could answer any question that you might have, and if I can have the Reno, NV therapist call you, I will as soon as possible. And it’s a great way to get to know that person that you’re going to be seeing. They’re probably going to tell you all the times that they’re available, both day and night. In addition, they’re probably going to ask you a little bit about why you’re coming in.

We work with couples, so we do a lot of marriage counseling and couples therapy – that’s our specialty, but we also work with individuals. Sometimes people want to come in who are in a committed relationship because they want to get really clear about what’s happening for them, how to take care of themselves, how to move forward in a really good way. Sometimes people who are dating want to make the right decision, that important decision to find that right life partner. In addition, we do premarital counseling. So sometimes people come in because they want to get information and strategies that really match to their personality style so that they can have a really great marriage, and have some tools along the way.

One thing you might ask your insurance company, if you have insurance, is you can ask: do they cover out-of-network therapists? We’re licensed and we are out-of-network. And if you have something like that, we can give you an invoice and you might be able to get some money back. Sometimes people pay for their therapy using something like flex spending, health savings accounts. You can ask your HR department if you have something like that.

If you haven’t noticed, we have a lot of articles and videos on this website. If you scroll through my videos, you’ll probably find a relationship issue that you can relate to. There’s advice on there that you can start working and practicing, but you’re also going to get to know the kinds of therapists we are, the kinds of advice that we can give. It’s a great way to get to know us. If there’s anything that I can do for you, please let me know. Thank you.

So, I’ve had what I’ll call “classic” issues with therapy. Until about 18 months ago, I thought that I could just deal with whatever I needed to, without help. Yeah. Then, I had a couple of unsuccessful starts with a couple of other therapists; One who really sucked, and one whose style was more along
