Hello, welcome to Relationship Counseling Center Providence, Rhode Island. This video is going to help you decide if we are a good therapist for you. In addition, it’s going to be some great information no matter who you see in understanding what counseling is all about and some real practical stuff you should know before making a decision about your therapist. First thing is we specialize in relationships, that’s what we do. We work with individuals and couples.

When couples come in, we create a safe environment without judgment and without blame where you can get to the bottom of what’s really going on between you two. Sometimes having that third party can really be amazing in a relationship. In addition, we are experts at giving couples tools and skills necessary to be respectful and hopefully to maintain a very healthy, happy marriage.

Some things that set us apart: anybody that I hire has enough life experience to back up our skillset – and that’s important for you to know. We are very down-to-earth, we have an interactive exchange, much like a coaching style to counseling, a solution-focused style. We help you with your relationship goals.

What’s really great about that, if you have relationship goals during therapy, you can see how you’re doing as you’re moving forward. In addition, we all know when it’s time to end because you’ve achieved your goal which is the end result of therapy.Something that we do with individuals, sometimes people are not in a relationship, they’re dating and they’re wanting to make good decisions about potential life partners, perhaps not to make the same mistakes that they have been. Sometimes people who are married or in long-term relationships come in by themselves, it’s completely fine. In fact, a lot can get done by yourself; getting added clarity, knowing what you can do in your relationship. Of course, we specialize in marriage counseling and couples therapy. You can give me a call any time and I can answer your questions. In addition, if everything feels good, I’ll have the Providence, Rhode Island therapist call you immediately, hopefully a therapist that’s close to you and has a good schedule that matches yours, and is the right fit for you. Also, when you talk to that therapist, it’s a great way to get to know them before your first session. They’ll probably ask you a little bit about why you’re coming in and of course they’ll tell you all the times that they can see you, both day and evening. We usually can get you in within 24 to 48 hours. If you have any insurance plans that have out-of-network coverage, we sometimes can give you an invoice to help you get reimbursed. In addition, if you have any flex spending or health savings accounts through work, sometimes these things are used to pay for therapy. It’s worth checking out.If you haven’t noticed, I have a lot of videos on this website. There is probably a relationship issue that you can find on my website that you can relate to and that can even help you right now in your relationship. Most important is you’re going to get to know who we are through those videos. We all have a very similar style and give really great advice. I hope it helps you understand who we are.Of course, if you want to take the next step, give me a call. Thanks.

Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m a licensed therapist and I’m the founder of our center in Providence RI. I’ve created this message to help you find out if we are the right therapist for you. I also want to give you some idea of what therapy is and what to expect, and some practical information, especially about how to help pay for it.

First of all, everyone hits roadblocks in their life and some of us don’t have the answers. We stumble, we fall, we feel stuck, and it’s completely healthy to reach out and ask for help. And I say this because I think a lot of us find in our culture that it’s weak to ask for help or there’s something inherently wrong with us to admit we need help. And I don’t find that to be true at all. In fact, some of the most courageous people that I know are the ones that when they need help can reach out and ask for it.

Reaching out to a licensed professional can be one of the smartest decisions you’ve made. Our job is to help people. We have skills, and tools, and experience at our side to bring in and help you in very unique ways. Sometimes people have life strategies that just aren’t working anymore and you need help with that, and creating new strategies and how to move forward in healthy ways.

When you come into your first session we’re probably going to ask you some questions. What are your thoughts, your feelings, your opinions about your life issue? And get to know you. We’re going to have a very open and interactive dialogue. It’s a great way to get to know somebody, to develop trust. I also find that clients, through having this kind of conversation, can more deeply understand themselves and have a lot more clarity about what’s been going on in their life.
Unique relationship, therapy and client is way different than friends or family. A lot of times when we come to friends or family, we have to really anticipate their feelings and we have to worry about what information we share, and how it’s going to affect them. It’s just a different level of a conversation. What’s really unique about the therapist-client relationship is this is one place in your life where it gets to be just about you. It’s a very safe place.

Now, when we help you move forward, we’re going to talk about skills and tools, we’re going to develop strategies during our session, and we’re going to support you as you move those out into your life, and in your own pace, create the life that you want.

I might recommend to watch some of the videos or read some of the articles that we have on our website. It’s a great way to get to know who we are, the kinds of advice that we give. You’re probably going to find some information on there, or some solutions, even, that could help you today.

Although picking up the phone is probably my greatest suggestion for you. If you call us, you can talk to one of our receptionists who can handle basic questions for you, and they can connect you to the therapist so you can talk to them on the phone. Tell your therapist a little bit about what’s going on in your life, see if you feel comfortable on the phone with them. Is it a good personality match? And if you do feel good, then you can make an appointment.

Getting help paying for therapy, many of us have insurance, and if you do, you can call your insurance provider and ask if you have any out-of-network coverage. Sometimes if you have out-of-network coverage, we can give you an invoice that could help you get reimbursed. Also, if you have anything like flex spending through work, sometimes people use those monies to pay for therapy.

I hope this video was helpful. And ultimately, I encourage you to take the next step in your life, reach out, and pick up the phone, and let us know what we can do to help. Thank you so much.

Explore Life Together in Providence, Rhode Island

What makes Providence, Rhode Island such a great place for renewal, love, and excitement? Well, for starters it is conveniently sandwiched between Boston and New York City, which makes it the perfect place to experience both romance and fun. Secondly, it has the aura of a small city filled to the brim with culture. Think about it, Providence offers a variety of magnificent art galleries, quaint inns, year-round festivals, and romantic cafes, which may be just what your relationship needs to rebound from heartache, familiarity, betrayal, and/or plain old boredom. In other words, this city offers plenty of activities for couples seeking a fresh start and/or a romantic rendezvous.

Listed below are things that you and your partner can do to spice up your relationship:

Historic Jacob Hill Inn
Have you heard of Historic Jacob Hill Inn? I know you have probably lived in Providence all of your life, or at least for a couple of years, but have you had a chance to really enjoy all that your sweet city has to offer? No. Well, better late than never. The Historic Jacob Hill Inn is a fabulous place to start rebuilding your relationship. It is also great way to add some much needed sizzle to your “coupledom.” So, schedule some time off from work, beg a friend or relative to watch your child, and make reservations for a night or two at this romantic inn.
And, guess what? Well, the Jacob Hill Inn offers a “Romantic Getaway” package that includes a delicious cheese plate, bubbly champagne, a box of mouthwatering chocolates, a two-person jetted bathtub, a sizzling fireplace, and a full complimentary breakfast. Perfect for talking, snuggling, and reconnecting, of course! And, do you want to know something else about this inn? Well, it was named one of the “Top 10 Most Romantic Inns” by ZAGAT. Can it get any better? Oh, and it is only 10 minutes away from downtown Providence, which means if you and your partner get restless indoors, you can stroll to the downtown “hot spots” and have a little fun.

Federal Hill – Providence
If you are looking for a “low-key” way to “get back on track” with your beloved, or you just want a way to relax together without the hustle and bustle of everyday life, well, then Federal Hill may just be the place for you. Why? Well, because this neighborhood offers a variety of family-owned cafes and restaurants like Angelo’s Civita Farnese. This romantic restaurant is the product of three generations of Angelo’s relatives and descendants. So, if you are looking for great food, good people, a relaxed atmosphere, delicious cannolis and steamy hot espresso, well this is definitely the place you need to be.

However, if it has been a while since you and your sweetheart have been out on an actual “date,” why not try something a little more fancy like Camille’s restaurant. Camille’s offers a wide variety of classic Italian dishes, an upscale environment, and an extensive wine list. Plus! Plus! Plus! And, lastly, if you are looking to take that first step at repairing your damaged relationship, opening the channels of communication, or simply trying to get a few precious minutes together, why not stop at the Italian pastry shop, Scialo’s Bakery and indulge in one of its many handmade desserts (i.e. Italian cookies, Bundt cakes, etc.). Yum!

Are you looking for something to do with your partner “after hours?” Yes. Well, why not head over to Waterfire for the evening. What’s so romantic about Waterfire? Well, it was the prime attraction during the city’s renaissance era (circa 1990s). In addition, bonfires run rampant along the Providence River. In fact, you can enjoy these magnificent bonfires throughout the summer months, and sometimes during the colder ones too. And, if you want to make the trip romantic, well, a gondola ride is perfect for that. So, rekindle the sparks you once felt for one another by strolling along Providence’s river in a gondola as Italian music plays in the background, and you and your sweetheart nosh on cheese, crackers, and champagne. The goal is to add some romance and fun back into your relationship. Waterfire is a good place to rediscover why you first fell in love, and why it is so important to work to maintain that love. Stay away from confrontational or sensitive subjects, and just enjoy your time together.

Muse Paintbar
When was the last time you and your partner had fun…real fun? A long time… Yep, that is what I figured. Well, that is about to change. How? Well, with a little help from Muse Paintball. It’s time to channel the “artist” hidden inside of you. So, find a painting that you like, choose a night, and set off to do something “new” and “different” together. And, guess what? You don’t have to bring anything with you – except your partner! This venue comes equip with paint, aprons, canvases, and trainer. In addition, it comes with a stocked kitchen and bar for those who want to enjoy an “adult beverage” or nibble on cheese and crackers, while creating their “masterpieces.”

Caution – don’t get worked up, if your creation isn’t perfect, because the purpose of this activity is to help you relax and enjoy doing something with your loved one that you have never done before. However, if your creation is all that you hoped it would be, you can show off your handy work on Facebook, or hang it in your house for all to see. It is yours to keep forever! And, think about it, every time you and your partner look at the paintings, you will be reminded how much fun you had the night you created them. Score!

So, I’ve had what I’ll call “classic” issues with therapy. Until about 18 months ago, I thought that I could just deal with whatever I needed to, without help. Yeah. Then, I had a couple of unsuccessful starts with a couple of other therapists; One who really sucked, and one whose style was more along

Contrary to popular belief, my hubby and I don’t have a perfect marriage, but who does, right? There were/are several issues we needed/need assistance with; one of which was/is a nagging problem for quite some time. We’ve had several sessions with him and every time our sessions ended I felt some breakthrough had occurred, no
