Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist, and I’m the founder of our center. If you’re looking for Oklahoma City therapist, I want to give you some basic information. First of all, what to expect for your first session if you’ve never done this before. I know it can be a daunting or scary experience for those that are new on this path. And I also want to let you know the kind of therapists that we are, the kinds of approaches that we take. I’m also going to give you some practical information that I think everyone should know, specifically on how to help pay for therapy.
First of all, everyone runs into challenges in their life. We hit roadblocks and we don’t know how to get around them. That is a natural and normal thing in anybody’s life. And reaching out for help can be a very smart idea. I say this only because some people have difficulty asking for help. And when we don’t have an answer to something and we truly are stuck, it is completely a wonderful thing to ask for help. We have helped hundreds, if not, thousands of people through different life issues. We bring a wealth of experience to the table to help you in your life. Not only that, but everyone I hire is also old enough and has enough life experience to back up their skillset.
When you come into that first session, we’re probably going to ask you a little bit about your life issue. We’re going to ask your thoughts, your feelings, your opinions about your life and what’s going on. We’re going to probably ask a lot of questions, and we’re going to have a very interactive exchange, much like a conversation, and I think people really like that. That form of therapy can be very comfortable.
We’re also always trying to get to the heart of the matter with you. What’s really going on in your life? Let’s get to the bottom of that. And once we do, with your assistance, we can develop a roadmap for you to move forward in your life in new and healthy ways. We’re going to teach you the skills and the tools that are necessary for you to take those steps. We’re not only going to talk about those during our session, but we’re going to encourage you to take those out into your life where they matter most. And, of course, in your own time, at your own pace.
A good first step is just picking up the phone. You can talk to the therapist that you would be seeing, without any commitment, and get to know them. See if you like them. Are you comfortable on the phone with them? Do you get a good vibe? I want you to feel good before you make a decision about coming in for an appointment. You can tell them a little bit about why you’re coming in. You might ask them all the times that they’re available, both day and night, so you can come in as soon as possible.
And last, I want you to know that we have a lot of videos and articles on our website. They’re there for you, they’re free. There’s a lot of information and solutions on there. You probably could find a life issue that you currently are facing. It’s also a great way to get to know the kinds of advice that we offer.
Now, paying for therapy, people pay out-of-pocket at Relationship Counseling Center, but also people sometimes have out-of-network coverage through their insurance provider. You can call your insurance company and ask if you have out-of-network coverage, and if you do, we can give you an invoice that could help you get some reimbursement. Sometimes people have health benefit accounts, flex spending, things like that, where you can use those funds sometimes to help pay for therapy. It’s also another great way to pay for therapy.
