At our Louisville, KY area office, licensed therapists help people find healthy ways to target and resolve life issues. Whether through individual counseling, marriage counseling or couples therapy, our Louisville, KY therapists can help you figure out how to move forward and make better choices in your life.

Many individuals struggle with depression, anxiety, painful relationships or just find themselves in uncomfortable situations that keep happening over and over. We help individuals understand their choices and uncover strategies that will effectively change their life for the better. Individual therapy can often be someone’s first experience feeling safe enough to really uncover the root issues and develop the skills to make healthy changes.

Couples often find couples counseling to be the last house on the block. After failed attempts to get your needs met in a relationship, going to therapy can be an effective way to find connection and happiness in your relationship. An experienced therapist can help couples develop a better understanding for each other. When clients finally understand each other they will often begin to treat each other respectfully and more lovingly. We offer the communication tools and skills that help couples create relationship strategies that work.

We offer a solution focused approach, and all of our therapists are committed to furthering their expertise through ongoing education.

Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and I’m the Founder of the Relationship Counseling Center in Louisville, KY. I’m doing this video to give you some information that’s going to be helpful in understanding if we are the right therapists for you, and also just some basic stuff that I think everyone should know when trying to make a decision like this, in addition to some practical stuff, even like about insurance.

So first of all, we specialize in relationship issues. We work with couples and individuals. When couples come in, we’re going to help you create a safe environment so that you can have deeper conversations about what’s really going on between you two. I often find that when couples have that kind of conversation, they can get clear about what’s going on, they often start treating each other better, more respectfully, more compassionately. We also are really good at teaching relationship skills and tools, the right ones for you so that you can learn how to handle conflict on your own at home where it matters most because ultimately, we don’t want you to be here, we want you to be at home being happy and learning how to get through impasses together.

Everyone who works at my center is also old enough and has enough life experience to back up their skillset. We’re licensed therapists. We’re down-to-earth and interactive. Many people find that we’re solution-focused. Much like a relationship coach, we’re active participants; not just listening to you each and every session, we’re helping you discover new strategies to move forward in a healthy way. With our help, we’re going to create relationship goals for you. What’s important about that is that you want those because it’s going to guide your therapy. You’re going to know if we’re doing well, if we’re going in the right direction. If we’re not, we’re going to make adjustments. And, of course, we’re all going to know when it’s time to end therapy because you’ve achieved your goal which is our ultimate goal as well.

Now, a first step could be just to give me a call. I could answer any question that you might have. And if everything feels good, I’ll have the Louisville, KY therapist give you a call as soon as possible. What’s good about that, it’s a great way for you to get to know the therapist you’re going to be seeing and make a more comfortable process. They’re going to ask a little bit about why you’re coming in and they’re going to tell you all the times that you can come in to see them both day and night so you can come in as soon as possible.

Another thing that people come in for other than couples counseling and marriage counseling is sometimes people come in by themselves who are in a committed relationship because they want to have a deeper understanding of what’s going on, perhaps learn strategies on their own. They could be very helpful. We specialize in premarital counseling, so folks that are getting married that want to learn strategies, and tips, and tools from the pros and apply them to their communication styles that are very unique for every couple – we can help with that. Also, sometimes people come in who are dating and they want to make new and improved decisions in finding that right life partner.

So on the practical stuff, we are licensed therapists, and if you have any out-of-network coverage through work, you can call your insurance company and find out if you do. You still pay out of pocket, but we can give you an invoice that may get you some reimbursement. Also, sometimes people have what’s called flex spending or health savings accounts through work and sometimes people don’t know that you can actually use those monies to pay for it. And if you want to find out if that’s true for you, you can contact your HR department and find out.

Now, if you haven’t noticed, we have a lot of videos and articles on our website. You’re probably going to find a relationship issue that you can relate to that’s going on in your relationship right now, and maybe even take away some of the solutions that we provide on those videos. They’re free for the taking. But what’s also important is by checking those videos out, you’re going to get to know who we are, the kinds of advice that we give, the kinds of therapists we are. If you want some help, give me a call. Thank you so much.

So, I’ve had what I’ll call “classic” issues with therapy. Until about 18 months ago, I thought that I could just deal with whatever I needed to, without help. Yeah. Then, I had a couple of unsuccessful starts with a couple of other therapists; One who really sucked, and one whose style was more along
