Adrienne-therapistAdrienne Derher, LPC, NCC
Adrienne has a heart for people. Adrienne loves the challenge of helping the clients she has the privilege of working with become more fully alive and engaged in life. Her gentle and fun approach to therapy immediately puts both individuals and couples at ease. Adrienne understands that goals cannot be met unless all parties are comfortable with the counseling process. She often treats counseling like personal training, meaning there are clearly defined, specific goals to reach with clients. Individuals and couples who work with Adrienne walk away with increased communication skills, stronger emotional “muscles,” and a more positive outlook on life. While Adrienne specializes in divorce care and parent/child relationships, she also has a passion for couples in marriage counseling. Evening and weekend appointments are available. She provides individual therapy, couples therapy, couples counseling and marriage counseling.

Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m licensed therapist and I’m the founder of our center Kansas City therapy office. I’m here to talk to you about therapy and who we are as therapists. I want to tell you what to expect from coming to us, and hopefully help you make a decision if we are the right therapist for you.Especially if you’re new to therapy, it’s sometimes a very mystical process, and people don’t know what to expect, and it can feel a little bit scary, reaching out to somebody you don’t know and I just want to make that process a little bit easier for you. I’m also going to give some information about how to pay for therapy, which I think could be helpful for just about anybody.

So, first of all, everyone runs into challenges in their life. It is completely natural, and normal, and healthy to reach out for help when you need it. We don’t always need it, but when we’re stuck, it can be very helpful. A licensed professional is a very good choice. We’ve been helping people for many years and we have insights that not everyone has.

When you come into therapy initially, we’re going to get to know you; your thoughts, your feelings, your opinions about what’s going on in your life. And through that process, we’re going to have a dialogue. It’s how we work. We’re going to ask questions in a very natural and comfortable way, and be very curious about you. Through that process, we’re getting to know you which will allow us to help you in really effective ways. And what I find is a lot of clients, through that process of having a conversation about their issues often run into epiphanies and deepen their understanding of what’s going on in their life, and that can be very helpful.

And at some point when you’re in your own pace, we are going to help you with solutions. We’re solution-focused therapists, so we’re going to help you create a roadmap to move through these life issues in very healthy and comfortable ways. We’re also much like a mentor or coach, and we’re going to be working with you as co-collaborators in your life.

If you want to know who we are, a great way to check us out is to go watch some of the videos or read some of the articles on our website. You can kind of get to know some of the advice that we give. Also, you can reach out by calling us on our phone number. You can talk to one of our happy receptionists that will answer your basic questions, and if you’d like to talk to a therapist, they can direct you to one of our therapists immediately. And you can talk to them on the phone, tell them a little bit about what’s going on in your life. And if you like your therapist and you feel comfortable with them, you can make an appointment to come and see them as soon as possible.

I hope this helps. And if you have any out-of-network coverage through work or flex spending, things like that through your company, sometimes we can give invoices to help clients pay for their therapy.

Thank you.

Contrary to popular belief, my hubby and I don’t have a perfect marriage, but who does, right? There were/are several issues we needed/need assistance with; one of which was/is a nagging problem for quite some time. We’ve had several sessions with him and every time our sessions ended I felt some breakthrough had occurred, no
