Susan-g-therapistSusan Gillespy, LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist)
Relationship counseling is a place for people to learn new skills and strategies for maintaining healthy relationships. Due to the stressors of life and unexpected life situations, people find that they can say and do things that are hurtful and non-caring toward those that they care about the most. Susan Gillespy helps men and women learn to “think through their feelings”. In doing so, people learn to build relationships with trust and being responsible toward ourselves and others. She teaches communication skills, self-responsibility and vulnerable expression that allow couples to become caring and supportive partners.

The faces of couples and of families have changed through the years. But all people have similar problems, dreams and needs throughout their lives. Whether the relationship is in an early phase or at a place of transition, couples counseling can help sort out problems, discover new or forgotten solutions and find new directions for a more fulfilling life.

Susan Gillespy holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Florida. She has been working with individuals, couples and families in a private practice setting since 2000.

Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist, and I’m the founder of our center Jacksonville FL. I’m here to give you some information that’ll hopefully help you make a decision. First of all, you want to know: are we the right therapists for you? And specifically, if you’ve never done this sort of thing before, you might want to know what to expect. I know it can be a pretty daunting process, reaching out to someone you don’t know and to talk about your life in a real deep and meaningful way.

First of all, I want to let you know that that’s a very special thing for us and we understand that it’s not always easy, and we want to make it as comfortable as possible. We’ve been working with people for many years, hundreds, if not, thousands of people, and we have a lot of really unique ways to help our clients.

First of all, when you come in, we’re most likely going to ask you a bit about yourself and what your life issue is about for you. We’re going to give you some time to share your thoughts, your feelings, and your opinions about what’s going on. We’re not just going to listen to you, we’re very interactive in a very natural way. We’re just going to ask you questions, we’re going to be curious about what’s happening in your life. It’s our way of deepening our own understanding so that we can eventually help you, and it’s also a great way for you to deepen your understanding of what’s going on in your life. Through that dialogue, clients often have epiphanies about their life and insights that they did not have previous.

Also, when we get to a place, we’re going to eventually start helping you figure out what kind of skills and tools are necessary to make the right kinds of change in your life. We’re going to help you develop a roadmap, much like a coach or a mentor, and we’re going to guide you along that process and support you as you make those steps.

A good way to get to know us is to check out some of the videos and articles on our website. You’ll learn some of the advice that we give and get an impression about us through that. And also, you can reach out on the phone. One of our receptionists will handle your basic questions, and if you’d like to talk to one of our therapists, they can transfer you directly and you can tell them a little bit about what’s going on in your life, and get a feeling for the therapist that you’re going to be seeing; see if you’re comfortable with them. And then, you can make an appointment if everything feels right.

You also could help pay therapy for using what’s called out-of-network coverage, if you have that, you can verify it with your insurance company or if you have some sort of health benefit through your human resources, you can ask your company if you have a resource like that. And we can provide invoices for all these situations and it might help you out.

I hope this was helpful information. And if you’d like some help in your life, please reach out. Thank you.

So, I’ve had what I’ll call “classic” issues with therapy. Until about 18 months ago, I thought that I could just deal with whatever I needed to, without help. Yeah. Then, I had a couple of unsuccessful starts with a couple of other therapists; One who really sucked, and one whose style was more along
