If you are looking for a down-to-earth Irvine and Newport Beach, CA therapist who integrates interactive exchange, direct feedback, and goal-focused therapy, you’ve come to the right place.

Hello, my name is Sevin Philips. I’m a licensed therapist and I’m the founder of the Relationship Counseling Center in Irvine and Newport Beach, CA. I’m going to give you some information that’s going to be helpful in understanding if we are the right fit for you. It’s also good information, no matter where you go, especially if this is your first time, some basic and practical stuff that I think everyone should know.

First of all, we specialize in relationship issues. We work with couples and individuals. When couples come in, we help create an environment; we slow things down, it’s safe, without judgment and blame, you can get very clear about what’s really going on between you two. We often find when people find and get to the bottom of what’s really going on that that added clarity really can help them make healthy decisions and be respectful. Most importantly, we’re really good at teaching the tools and the skills necessary to communicate effectively with one another. We help you in session do that, but I also really think we encourage people to take it home where it matters most.We are licensed therapists, but it’s important for you to know that everyone I’ve hired is old enough and has enough life experience to back up their skillset. We’re down to earth, we’re interactive, we have a very direct kind of feedback that we give. Many people find that we’re solution-focused. Much like a relationship coach, we’re active participants helping you in your relationship. We’re going to help you develop relationship goals, that’s good for anybody, but what’s really important about that is it’s going to allow you to track: how are you doing in couples counseling? Are we moving in the right direction? If not, we can make adjustments. Most importantly, when we all agree that you’ve reached your goal, it’s time to end therapy, that’s what we want as well, and so having a relationship goal is a great way to guide that process.

If you’re new to this sort of thing, coming in by yourself could be okay; a lot of people do it. Perhaps you have a reluctant partner, maybe you just want to get really clear about what’s going on in your relationship and how you can improve it on your own, it’s very effective. Sometimes people come in who are dating and wanting to make really good decisions, perhaps you haven’t been choosing the best partners and you’re really wanting to find that right person. Sometimes people come in, of course, for couples counseling and marriage therapy, that’s our specialty. We help both married and unmarried couples.

A first step really is just to give me a call. I could answer any question that you might have. If everything feels good for you, I’ll have the right therapist in our Irvine and Newport Beach offices give you a call as soon as possible. It’s really a great way to start getting to know the person you’re going to be seeing, get a feel for them. They’re going to ask you a little bit about why you’re coming in, and also, we’re going to tell you all the times that you can see us both day and night. We usually can get you in within 24 to 48 hours.

Some practical stuff, we’re licensed therapists and if you have any out-of-network coverage through your insurance – you can verify with your insurance company – and if you do, we can give you an invoice that might help you get some money back. Sometimes people even use health benefits like flex spending, health savings accounts to pay for this sort of thing.

We’ve got 70 or 80 videos on this website with all kinds of relationship issues on there and all kinds of solutions and suggestions. I suggest you check it out. Hopefully, you can find something that you might be able to use right now that can help you. It’s free, it’s for you. It’s also a great way to get to know who we are and decide if we are the right fit for you, the kinds of advice that we give and such.

So, I’ve had what I’ll call “classic” issues with therapy. Until about 18 months ago, I thought that I could just deal with whatever I needed to, without help. Yeah. Then, I had a couple of unsuccessful starts with a couple of other therapists; One who really sucked, and one whose style was more along

Contrary to popular belief, my hubby and I don’t have a perfect marriage, but who does, right? There were/are several issues we needed/need assistance with; one of which was/is a nagging problem for quite some time. We’ve had several sessions with him and every time our sessions ended I felt some breakthrough had occurred, no
