Individuals often struggle with feelings of anxiety, depression or find themselves in a perpetual cycle of re-experiencing painful life situations. Wanting to understand our experience and learn healthy life strategies is a pursuit worthy of exploration in therapy. With a professional outside point of view, clients often discover the inner resources and develop strategies that can make the difference in their lives.
We have a very effective coaching style to couples counseling that is hands-on and interactive. Through this solution-focused format we can help couples reduce harmful behavior and begin to treat each other with respect and love. With the help of a therapist, couples can begin to stop harming each other, develop a better understanding of their issues and develop the skills and tools necessary to find happiness.

All human beings run into challenges in their lives. Sometimes we don’t have the answers and we need help. It’s completely healthy for you to reach out and ask for help if the strategies that you’ve had in your life are currently not working or working in a way that you want them to.
When you come into therapy, we’re probably going to ask you some questions; your thoughts, your feelings, your opinions about your life issue, and we’re going to have a conversation. It’s a very interactive process, and I think clients in general find that a very comforting way to do therapy. It’s relaxing and easy. And as we develop this conversation, we get to know you.
And when we get to know you better, we can bring in a lot of the skills and tools that we have to help clients figure out how to move forward. Also, what clients often find is that they have a deeper understanding of themselves through these conversations. Where once you have that kind of clarity, you can have a different perspective on yourself or what’s happened in your life, and also, it’s just a great platform to move forward.
We’re much like a relationship coach or a life coach, where we’re here to help you in a very interactive way. We’ll create a roadmap with your help and practice the kinds of skills that you need in your session, and support you as you take those out into the world.
A great way to get to know us would be to watch some of the videos or read some of the articles on our website. We’ve got a bunch of issues, and you’d probably find something that you can relate to that might be helpful for you right now. You’re going to get to know the kinds of advice that we can give.
The best thing I can recommend, though, is picking up the phone. We have a helpful receptionist staff that can answer you basic questions, and they can direct you to the right therapist right now. You can talk to your therapist on the phone, you can get to know them. See if you’re comfortable, see if there’s a personality fit. Tell them a little bit about your life and see how it feels. And if you feel good about it, you can make an appointment.
People help pay for therapy by using what’s called out-of-network coverage. You can call your insurance provider and see if you have what’s called out-of-network coverage. And if you do, we may be able to provide you an invoice to get some money back. Also things like flex spending or health savings account, sometimes those monies are used to pay for therapy.
I hope this was helpful. And if you’d like to take the next step in your life, please reach out and let us know what we can do to help. Thank you.[/toggle][/accordian][/one_half][/fullwidth][fullwidth backgroundcolor=”no” backgroundimage=”” backgroundrepeat=”no-repeat” backgroundposition=”left top” backgroundattachment=”scroll” bordersize=”0px” bordercolor=”” borderstyle=”solid” paddingtop=”45px” paddingbottom=”45px” paddingleft=”0px” paddingright=”0px” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][one_half last=”no” class=”” id=””][title size=”2″ content_align=”left” style_type=”double” sep_color=”” class=”” id=””]Counseling Specialties[/title][checklist icon=”fa-check” iconcolor=”” circle=”” circlecolor=”” size=”small” class=”Speciallist” id=””][li_item icon=””]Interpersonal Issues[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Marriage Counseling & Couples Therapy[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Relationship and Intimacy Issues[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Premarital Counseling[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Sexual and Emotional Disconnect[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Infidelity[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Parenting[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Fighting and Defensiveness[/li_item][li_item icon=””]LGBTQ Adults[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Life & Career Transition[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Life & Career Transition[/li_item][/checklist][/one_half][one_half last=”yes” class=”” id=””][title size=”2″ content_align=”left” style_type=”double” sep_color=”” class=”” id=””]Chesapeake Therapist Locations[/title][map address=”Chesapeake, VA 23320″ type=”roadmap” map_style=”default” overlay_color=”” infobox=”default” infobox_background_color=”” infobox_text_color=”” infobox_content=”” icon=”” width=”100%” height=”300px” zoom=”10″ scrollwheel=”yes” scale=”yes” zoom_pancontrol=”yes” popup=”yes” class=”” id=””][/map]
