Hello. My name is Sevin Philips. I’m a licensed therapist, and I’m the founder of our center. I wanted to give you some information to help you make a decision if we are the right therapist for you, and give you some basic practical information about how to help pay for therapy.
Now, when people come into therapy, sometimes, especially if you’re new with this, you don’t know what to expect. We’re very interactive, we’re very down-to-earth, so when you come in, we’re most likely going to ask you what your thoughts, your feelings, and your opinions are about your issue in your life. We’re going to listen.
But more than that, we’re very interactive, much like having a conversation. We’re going to be talking about your issue, and perhaps even talking about it more in-depth than you ever have before. It’s a great way for us to get to know you, so that we’re better able to help you. And what I often find is that when clients have a conversation that’s in-depth, that you sometimes discover things that you had no idea about yourself or your situation that can be very helpful.
So, when you come in and we get to a place where we’re ready to offer some suggestions, with your help, we’re going to create a roadmap for you in your life to move forward. Much like a coach, we’re going to assist you with the right skills and tools that are necessary. We’re going to talk about those during our session, and we’re going to support you taking those out into your world and practicing them in your own time. We are what you call solution-focused therapists, so we are definitely keyed in to helping you figure out how to move forward in your life.
A great way to get to know us is just to reach out and pick up the phone, and talk to the therapist that you would be seeing. You can tell them a little bit about why you’re coming in, you can ask them what time they’re available, what day and evening spots they have available. Get to know them a little bit. I encourage you to do that, because you can see if this person is a good fit for you personality-wise and whether or not you feel comfortable with them before you commit to coming in.
And another thing you can do is you can check out our videos and our articles on our website. You can probably find a life issue that you can relate to that’s going on in your life, and you might even find some valuable solutions that you can apply right now.
People pay for therapy out-of-pocket, and sometimes they’re able to get assistance if they have what’s called out-of-network coverage. You can verify if you have that with your insurance company, and if you do, we can give you an invoice. Some people have employee benefits, like health savings accounts, and if you do, we can give you an invoice and you might be able to use those monies to help pay for it.
